Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Martin was named Small College Athlete of the Year. Martin was named to the College Football Writers Association of America's All-America first-team in 2015 and topped the list of finalists for the College Athletics Association's Small College Award 2017, which was announced Sunday.

He came up with 147 assists and 81 3-pointers and averaged 21.8 points per game, surpassing the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) in scoring and assists. Shufford set a school record for most rushing attempts in a season with 1,073 yards while playing four 200-yard games, including 282 against Centre College.
